Which System is best to Drain Your Home off Excess Water

When you think of drains, all it (usually) comes to the mind is gutters and sewages. But that is a bigger part of a system that is designed to keep water off the streets. The minor face, crucial for you though, of the whole sewage system is the drainage system for your home. The system that you adopt for maintaining your water waste exuding from and accumulating at your home is the first thing one should think of when building or buying a home. There are various ways to tackle excess water and we discuss some of them here.

The one system for dealing with rain water or storm water is called the storm water drainage and includes the manholes and sewage lines laid by the civic administration. The one that is in place at your home is called the foul water drainage. As the name suggests, this system collects all the foul water waste and deposits it into a waste tank or a septic tank.

The other types of drainage are: a surface or an open ditch, pipe and gravel ditch. A surface type of drainage involves digging of ditches on the ground and creating slopes for water to flow in it. In the pipe option of drainage, pipes are laid deep in the ground, preferably at the root or embankment level, from where water is guided into the main sewer. Finally, gravel trench is a process wherein ditches are filled with gravel and grow grass on it.

Whatever the case is, make sure you choose the right system that is effective for drainage for your home to ensure a comfortable and safe living.
